Train to be a teacher with us

Working alongside Roehampton University and Ursuline High School, St John Fisher RC Primary School is pleased to be able to offer places for trainee teachers through the  Schools Direct route into teaching.

Our partnership aims to provide an awe inspiring, vibrant and caring environment where trainee teachers can develop their teaching experience, knowledge and skills while feeling supported by experienced professionals.

Ursuline High School is the lead school for primary training, the aim is to deliver excellence. Teach Wimbledon primary training provides a unique opportunity to trainees to access a diverse and contrasting range of teaching practices and training environments.

We have highly skilled trained mentors with exemplary teaching skills who are committed to sharing their knowledge and practice with the new trainee teachers.

The University of Roehampton has been at the forefront of teacher education for over 100 years and has a long-established, international reputation as one of the principal providers of teacher education in the UK. Many members of the academic staff are at the cutting edge of research in teacher education, which has a positive impact on the quality of provision for all of our students; and all tutors have extensive teaching experience in schools with many having served as consultants or as Ofsted inspectors.

School Direct offers you the opportunity to spend the majority of time in school, learning directly from experienced professionals. Professional Studies are provided by Roehampton University and involves one day a week based at the university. Through lectures, workshops and assignments the theoretical aspect of teaching and Professional Studies supports practice in the classroom.
